Women's Day - Collingwood, Ontario
The Town of Collingwood's first annual International Women's Day Event, was held on Friday, March 8 at the Simcoe Street Theatre, brought the women of Collingwood and the surrounding communities together to inspire and advocate for the advancement of gender equality. Key panelists discussed the importance of a work/life balance and share examples of challenges and opportunities they have encountered as women. The event started with Guest Speaker, Jennine Profeta, who is a Writer/Improv Facilitator for Girls Nite Out (a show that is playing at the Gayety Theatre on March 8 at 8:00 PM). Heather Korol (Owner, Master Your Message) will moderate our talented and inspiring panel, which includes: Her Worship Mayor Lynn Dollin (Mayor of Innisfil), Karla Findlay (Founder, Market Made), Norah Holder (President & CEO, Collingwood General Marine Hospital), Nilusha Premasinghe (Regional General Manager, YMCA Collingwood), and Jill Proud (President and CEO, The Proud Group). This event featured a fundraising opportunity to support My Friend’s House, a non-profit agency offering support for abused women and children living in the South Georgian Bay Region. A flag raising and proclamation ceremony was held in front of the Collingwood Public Library at 1:00 PM.
