Beaver Valley Outreach (BVO)

About

Established over 35 years ago, Beaver Valley Outreach (BVO) is a community-based charitable organization of volunteers and staff located in Thornbury, dedicated to “making good things happen in our community” with quality programs and services for families, children, youth, seniors and individuals in The Blue Mountains. Over 250 BVO volunteers, working with staff and a hands-on Board of Directors, generously offer their time and talents to deliver 18 vital programs and services in the community. Some devote their time and energy to making sure that the Treasure Shop operates efficiently. Others organize nutritious breakfasts for children at school, visit people who are sick or housebound and pack Christmas hampers during the Holidays. BVO programs and services include: BVO Preschool, Kids Club, EarlyON Centre, Breakfast Club, Recreational Funding, Summer Fun Day Camp, Youth Engagement, Treasure Shop, Emergency Services, Information & Referrals, Good Food Box, Good Neighbours, Christmas Hampers, New Territory for Seniors, Answers4Seniors. Compared to large urban centres with numerous individual social programs, BVO is unique because it is a “one-stop shop” with help for everyone in the community – from children to families to seniors. It is estimated that approximately one in every three households in The Blue Mountains has some connection with BVO.
