Art with Heart

Presenting Art with Heart, a new and delightful fundraising event in support of Home Horizon’s Barbara Weider House and the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts (BMFA). To be held on Sunday May 26, 2019 at the Westin Trillium Hotel at the Village at Blue Mountain. This event will be catered by Oliver & Bonacini, with a bubbly offering by Georgian Hills Vineyards. Celebrating with us is the very talented Craig Ashton, Tenor, as our MC and entertainer and Terry Mokriy as our auctioneer. Watch a painting come to life LIVE on site by Hilary Slater, an amazingly talented artist.

Over 60 artists have donated their time and amazing art in support of this event including may local artists such as Ryan Sobkovich, John David Anderson, John Burton, Andrew Peycha, Don Kilby, Don May, David Hodgetts, David Fisher, Jane Wynne, Sue Miller Anke Lex, Jenn Wilkins, Kate Knox, Carolyn Corner, Kara McIntosh, Lisa Hannaford, Don Brommet, Doug Burlock, Laurie Foote and the list goes on.

Despite it being a relatively invisible problem in our community, youth homelessness does exist. In response to this need, Home Horizon, a non-profit and local charitable organization with 13 years of history helping the homeless in our community, built the Barbara Weider House. The Barbara Weider House provides a safe home and a welcoming communal environment – something many of these youth have never had. All the youth have access to counseling and social and life skills programs to help them successfully rebuild their lives and transition to independent living and adulthood as opposed to continuing down a path of homelessness that may lead to larger problems.

The BMFA is a non-profit, charitable arts organization whose mission is to promote the arts throughout the Georgian Bay region. Established in 1975, the BMFA is the leading voice for artists in the performing, visual and literary arts for the benefit and well-being of its citizens, visitors and the communities they serve.

We have an incredible opportunity to drive change in our community giving vulnerable youth hope, opportunity and a chance to succeed, as well as helping to promote the arts in the Georgian Bay area. We are so excited about this collaboration and hope to have a SOLD-OUT event. Help us make this event a great success – join us with your family, friends and colleagues.
