Scott Hundermund the owner of At Home Interiors at 65 Hurontario Street is pleased to give us step-by-step instructions on how to wrap your presents in fun, fresh and scented ways. Tools of the trade are all available locally and at affordable prices. Whether you want to wrap one special present with such careful detail or all of them, Scott’s instructions make this project easy for the beginner or for the glue gun guru.

Gather all of your supplies to have handy before starting your project. Good quality craft paper, wrapping paper, ribbons, embellishments, wire cutters, scissors, glue gun with refills, tape.

Cottage Country Crafts, right next door to At Home Interiors is a great place to get craft supplies and has everything you need for this project. At Home Interiors stocks a wide variety of embellishments to suit any wrapping theme, whether it’s traditional, modern or even a scented gift using potpourri as the finishing touch.

  • Cut wrapping paper to size properly so that there is neither too much, nor too little, taking into consideration about 1 cm extra on each side so that you can fold over raw edges for a clean finished look.
  • Wrap gift and secure with Scotch tape. Using the fingernails of your thumb and forefinger crease the edges of the wrapping paper all the way around the box for a sharp, crisp and professional look.
  • ·Cut your ribbon long enough to go all the way around the gift box - both width and lengthwise.
  • Use a glue gun to secure ribbon and create bows. Tip – storing glue gun sticks in the freezer helps to reduce those annoying little spider web type glue strings.
  • Add embellishments like sprigs of fresh greenery, Christmas ornaments and other fun things to personalize your gift and make it memorable for that special person in your life.
