The Georgian Bay Association for Creative Arts (GBACA) is holding its 20th annual summer art event. On Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd, artists will set up booths in the St. Marie Street Parking lot behind Town Hall.
The event has grown with the years to include 70 artists representing a wide range of media and expression.
Live music and children’s activities also enhance the Festival atmosphere. This year we have a new name and new location: in keeping with the Sesqui-centennial festivities, the artists will have their tents in the St. Marie Street Parking lot behind Town Hall for the two days. Because we have left our park setting behind, the event is now the Collingwood Outdoor Art Festival.
This year promises to be every bit as exciting with many returning artists and some new faces. There will be plenty of time to stroll along and admire the tremendous creativity of our local artists: 9 to 5 on Saturday and 10 to 4 on Sunday.
Yvonne Gibson, past President of GBACA is heading the organizing team. She is really looking forward to working with the Downtown BIA to make this new location the best show yet. “Certainly, we have such a vibrant and historic downtown that we are pleased to be right on the main street”. In the past, artists have been gratified by the warm reception from the community and keep returning year after year.
The new location integrates the event with the excitement of the August Civic Holiday long weekend in Collingwood. It is hoped that the party atmosphere of Elvis lingers and continues with this latest event and attracts a steady stream of supporters.
