The Ontario Winter Games are almost here. We will be welcoming more than 3,000 athletes, their coaches, team managers and family members to our region from March 6th to 9th. See below for ticket sale locations and the link to the Ontario Winter Games website where you can find out everything you need to know.

March is a great month for baking. Nothing warms the heart more then the smell of baking coming from the kitchen. We hope you enjoy the easy step-by-step instructions for making Rosemary’s Raspberry Coconut Tarts. Yes…this is the same Rosemary that made the Ravenna General Store famous for Butter Tarts. We tried to get that recipe out of her…but no go…it is a closely guarded secret. Blue Mountain Gourmet in Heathcote is where you will find Rosemary and her staff baking up a storm. With many fresh and frozen entrees, pies and jams this is a must stop for stocking up before a busy weekend of guests.

On Sunday, March 2nd at 2pm The Collingwood Skating Club will present its annual carnival "The Collingwood Skating Gala" with a tribute to the Sesquicentennial of Collingwood. The show will feature members of the Collingwood Skating Club with special guest Christopher Mabee, Silver Medalist 2007 Senior Men’s Canadian Championship. Doors open at 1:15 pm at the Eddie Bush Arena and tickets are available in advance for only $8 at The Crow’s Nest, The Collingwood Health Centre Pharmacy, Balloon Expressions and The Feminine Touch until March 1st. Tickets are also available at the door for only $10. Children under 5 years old are admitted for free.

On March 8th Grey Heron Natural Designs Presents… “Take Time to Smell the Roses”… an International Women’s Day Celebration. Don't miss this chance to see businesswomen from our local community walk the catwalk in new Spring fashions at the Marsh Street Centre in Clarksburg. For more details visit our events calendar. Tickets are still available but going quickly. Proceeds are to Meaford Hospital. The keynote speaker for this event is Barb Andrews who just contributed one of our feature articles on Menopause. You can also participate in some of the on-site health related workshops and activities.

With St. Patrick’s Day approaching word on the street has it that Boston Pizza in Collingwood will be the place to celebrate complete with green beer and The Strange Potatoes. Check our events calendar for a look at all of the celebrations planned in our area. There’s a lot going on to satisfy the little leprechaun in you. Ever notice how on St. Patrick’s Day everyone you talk to finds some Irish in their ancestry? Seems like the more beer they consume, the more Irish they become. This is a great time to remind all that we have a listing of taxi numbers in our Info You Need section.

If you have ever put your house up for sale, the task can be daunting. Taking things one-step at a time can make the process a whole lot easier and by following Marg’s guide, you can focus on the things that will make a difference when it comes time for Open House. The difference you want to notice is in your wallet.

Don’t forget to check our blogs Westpoint and PointAfter by Dale West andTomorrow Today by Carole Matthews.

Our Double Dollars Marketplace continues to be a smash hit offering consumers an opportunity to purchase gift certificates for their favourite restaurants, retailers, local fitness centres and much more for ½ price. That’s right…half price. Some of our available gift certificates have been so popular, they sell out in minutes. We suggest you mark your calendar every Wednesday morning with a reminder at 9:45 to go on-line and get in on the action.

Jane Moysey of Tri-W gives us an overview of the Real Estate market in the Georgian Triangle - Past, Present and Future - very interesting and informative. Even if you’re not thinking of buying or selling right now, it’s well worth the read.
