World theatrical premiers don’t happen every day.... especially not in Collingwood. But this August, Theatre Collingwood is premiering Dan Needles news multi character play Ed’s Garage.
Ed’s Garage is about an ex-urbanite psychotherapist who finds herself in competition with the mystical proprietor of Port Petunia’s oldest unlicensed social institution. Written by Nottawa resident and Steven Leacock award winning author and playwright Dan Needles.
What better way to celebrate this auspicious occasion than to have a party. And with the playing being about a guy named Ed... who has a garage and the production sponsor for the play being Canadian Tire, well, it was obvious that the largest tailgate party in Collingwoods history would have to be arranged. The Friends of Theatre Collingwood are hosting this wonderful fundraising event on the eve of the premiere, Wednesday August 23.
The evening will begin at 5 PM with the appropriate beverages and tailgate food. Throughout the evening their will be special draws and lots of prizes. All outside under a tent at the Anglican Church, just one block walking distance to the Gayety Theatre where party goers will be the first in the world to see Ed’s Garage. Attendees will be able to partake in traditional tailgate activities with a twist.... and even have the opportunity to meet the playwright. Who could think of a better way to celebrate this unprecedented occasion.
Tickets for the event are $60, and include both the tailgate party and your premiere theatre ticket. Space is limited to 200, with tickets available from The Friends of Theatre Collingwood, and at the Theatre Collingwood box office. Phone 445-2200 for more information.
