This awards ceremony is an annual opportunity for the Collingwood community to salute those businesses and/or individuals who they feel deserve recognition for a job well done.
There are 3 major sectors where awards are qualified – Business Leaders, Innovators and Community Leaders. We encouraged everyone in the area to consider which businesses have done a great job and let us know with a nomination. A very successful Gala Awards Presentation and Banquet was held last Friday night, March 31st at the Georgian Manor Resort. The evening was started with a cocktail reception and Georgian Manor Resort served complimentary hors d’oeuvres to the attendees. The event was made possible with contributions from major sponsors:
Silver Level Sponsors · Bruce Telecom · Mortgage Alliance · On the Bay
Bronze Level Sponsors · Centre for Business & Economic Development · Gaviller & Co. · Royal Bank
Chamber Board member Shane MacLaughlan and Rogers "Daytime" hostess Darlene Christianson did a fine job as M.C.’s for the evening. The audience enjoyed a hilarious rendition of Collingwood’s Apprentice produced by a combination of talents including Eric Rudd (CD’s FYI), Shane MacLaughlan (MasterPix), Doug Measures, Dean Hollin and his cast of friends and very our own "Johnald Crump" John Eaton.
Winners were presented with engraved plaques in front of an audience of over 120 people. Both Helena Guergis MP Simcoe Grey and Jim Wilson Honorable MPP Simcoe Grey had planned to attend but unfortunately, last minute schedule changes did not allow them to be there. Carol Wood, Constituency Assistant to Ms. Guergis, came in her stead and presented certificates to the winners. Jim Wilson will also be distributing his own certificates. Councillor Kathy Jeffery represented Mayor Terry Geddes and extended his good wishes in the company of Collingwood Town Councillors Ian Chadwick, Gretta Gill and Mike Edwards.
