The Collingwood Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2007 Business Excellence Awards at the Collingwood Legion on Friday March 11, 2007. Guests arrived to take a walk on the Red Carpet and have their photo snapped by local paparazzi, ISIS Photography www.isisphotography.ca.
The theme for the evening was based on the popular TV Show Deal or No Deal with a special guest appearance by Mowie Handell aka, Shane MacLaughlan of www.masterpix.ca who did a spectacular job as MC.
Eric Rudd, of CDsFYI http://cdsfyi.com created an amazing AV display with the Chamber’s own version of Deal or No Deal and guests from the studio audience were invited to participate and win up to $500.00 of silent auction dollars. An innovative idea that motivated audience participation.
The lovely models were arranged and supplied by Faythe Pal, owner of Dusk a new concept store featuring branded fashionable clothing, footwear, accessories, candy, and jewellery. Featured are mid to high end products from around the world. Conveniently located on the Main Street drive into Beach Area One, Wasaga Beach, and close to Faythe Pal’s other retail store Sunshine on a Cloudy Day, Dusk offers a truly unique shopping experience.
The dresses were designed by Toronto designers Plastik Wrap www.plastikwrap.com Dusk will be the first to feature this clothing line in the Georgian Bay area. This collection includes dresses, armband wallets, garters, and men’s and women’s shirts.
Additional entertainment was provided by Keiko Yoden, International Pianist from our sister city in Katano, Japan who graced attendees with her beautiful performance.
A unique twist to the awards this year were the awards themselves, each an original creation by Jason vanVoorst of Korporate Images www.korporateimages.ca. Each award was embroidered on black fabric using multi-coloured thread with the Chamber logo, the name of each award and the name of each award winner. The creation of each award used state of the art embroidery technology and consisted of over 50,000 stitches using 5 colours of thread.
The evening was finished off by a humorous and entertaining performance by local favourites the Strange Potatoes www.strangepotatoes.com
