Wordstock fundraiser auctions off paintings by Jason Alexander. Collingwood residents now have the opportunity to own a unique work of art while supporting a local literary festival. The Collingwood Public Library is pleased to announce a special auction to raise funds for Wordstock 2011 taking place from September 9-10.
Wordstock is in an exciting literary festival which launched last year in Collingwood to great success.
The festival celebrates words and literary arts in written and other artistic forms of expression.
The auction features three paintings by renowned, Canadian artist Jason Alexander, which he painted in front of a live audience during last year’s festival gala show, “Off the Page.” Alexander’s style has been compared to works by Impressionist and Fauvism painters. His paintings hang in galleries worldwide and have been featured in television shows such as Will & Grace and Seinfeld.
The auction includes three large canvases available for bidding which feature whimsical designs, a pastel colour palate and inspiring words.
The auction is now live and runs through to Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. The paintings are available for viewing on the Library’s North Hanging Wall.
Interested parties can view further details and make a bid at the Wordstock website or by phoning the Collingwood Public Library at 705-445-1571 ext. 6222.
Jason Alexander recently displayed his artwork at the Collingwood Public Library. The one man show, titled “Jason Alexander: 40 Paintings” hung in April. He owns Alexander Art Materials and Supplies located in downtown Collingwood. For more details, please visit Jason' website.
