Born and raised in Collingwood Ontario, Austin McCarthy started at a young age on piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music Program. At the age of 13, his passion turned to the guitar. His guitar playing is strongly influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King and John Mayer, clearly marked by his own signature style.
At the age of 16 Austin began teaching guitar to both young and not so young students, which was mutually beneficial. "To teach is to learn twice." - Joseph Joubert
Over the years Austin has evolved into an exciting performer, both instrumentally and vocally. His venues have ranged from private functions, to clubs and festivals. Austin's effortless and unique song writing style evokes strong emotion in the listener, and is guaranteed to take you away. His win of the 2014 Collingwood Idol title has garnered the interest of the local press, radio and community attention. His website and Facebook fan page followers have increased dramatically since the release of his first demo "If You Look". Having graduated high school with honours, Austin was recently accepted into the Finance Program at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, giving him the opportunity to get his degree in Commerce while exploring the fabulous music scene in Montreal.
