After five years of successful operations as a boutique real estate brokerage located in the heart of The Village at Blue Mountain, Ontario's pre-eminent four season resort, Village Realty Inc., Brokerage is transforming into RE/MAX at Blue Realty Inc., Brokerage.
"The decision to purchase a RE/MAX franchise just seemed like a natural progression for the brokerage," said Gerry Wayland, owner and broker of record. "We were busting at the seams with incoming prospects and real estate inquiries. We needed a brand with a system and support to take the brokerage to the next level." After researching many different real estate partnerships and franchise options, Wayland says he decided on RE/MAX because it had all the characteristics he was looking for in a brand.
"RE/MAX hit all the right hot buttons for us. It's first in real estate brokerage brand recognition in Ontario. It's a trusted name," says Wayland. The background on the evolution of this brokerage is an interesting one. For ten years Wayland worked as a sales representative and broker of record for Intrawest, the developer who built and sold the real estate in The Village at Blue Mountain as well as several townhome communities on the resort's Monterra Golf Course. In 2010, when the bottom fell out of recreational real estate in North America including Intrawest's two flagship resorts Tremblant and Whistler, Intrawest decided to close up shop for real estate development and sales at Blue Mountain. "Intrawest asked me if I would be interested in taking over the brokerage in The Village," says Wayland. "I jumped at the opportunity. I knew the down market wouldn't last forever."
Since then this little boutique brokerage has managed to be the exclusive listing brokerage for a 600 single family home development called Windfall, located just a kilometer from Blue Mountain Resort. Along with its regular re-sale business Wayland felt it was a no-brainer to purchase a RE/MAX franchise to better serve his clients and community. "We want to earn the trust of homeowners in the area so RE/MAX at Blue Realty Inc., Brokerage becomes the natural choice to list and sell their property," says Wayland.
