Provincial organization Festivals and Events Ontario announced the 2012 Top 100 festivals in Ontario at the annual conference held in Niagara Falls, Ontario March 3rd. Sponsored by VIA Rail Canada, the Top 100 recipients represent festivals and events that excel within the industry.

For the very first time the Blue Mountains Apple Harvest Festival, held annually on Thanksgiving weekend,

was recognized as one of Ontario’s premier festivals along side Peak To Shore Music Festival and Salsa at Blue Mountain.  “Every year over 3,000 festivals take place in Ontario and we’re thrilled to have three of our festivals recognized in the Top 100”, expressed Patti Kendall, Manager Marketing and Events for the Blue Mountain Village Association. “It’s always exciting to be at the conference when the list is announced. We’re in great company with the likes of Canada Blooms, Ottawa’s Winterlude, Kitchener Blues Festival and other festivals in our area including the Collingwood Elvis Festival, Owen Sound Northern Lights Festival and Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest.”

With the season quickly approaching, planning is well underway for this year’s festivals. Salsa at Blue Mountain will once again turn the Village into a vibrant celebration of Latin life with passionate dancing, live music, fiery foods and fireworks from June 22-24th. Following a few weeks later is the 4th annual Peak To Shore Music Festival with main stages in the Blue Mountain Village and the charming town of Thornbury. Headlining the festival this year is The Jim Cuddy Band accompanied by many of Canada’s finest independent artists on multiple stages from July 13-15.

The Blue Mountain Village is located between Collingwood and Thornbury in the Town of The Blue Mountains, at the foot of Blue Mountain on the Niagara Escarpment. Pedestrian streets framed with turn of the century Ontario architecture are full of life and decoration. With a wide variety of family activities, attractions and destinations for shopping, dining, accommodation and fun, the Village is an exciting four-season destination.
