New in the Collingwood area! The Loft Gallery has recently opened in Clarksburg just south of Thornbury in the site of the former Lake’s Garage. The gallery displays the works of various local and Ontario artists.

Adjacent to the gallery is Debra Lynn Carroll’s studio where she paints large scale textured landscape oil paintings of images from the area. Debra has been spell-bound with the beauty of the area and she can be spotted along area roads taking in the beauty as inspiration for her paintings.

New in the gallery! Abstract Acrylic paintings by James Lane. Nature is the source of inspiration for James’ 4 foot by 4 foot paintings entitled Nevada Wind and Alaskan Sunset. Rainforest represents the “lungs of our planet; More than 20% of the world’s oxygen is produced in the Amazon Rainforest, the earth’s greatest biological treasure. James Lane’s painting Steelhead was inspired by “arguably the hottest freshwater fish you can catch on a fly rod.”

Artist Lynn Krogman Ceglar grew up in Collingwood and has brought her “cave paintings” to the Loft Gallery. Lynn read about the discovery of a cavern near Avignon in France with perfectly preserved 20,000 year old paintings on the walls. In further research she found that the 40,000 year old art in the caves at Lascaux, France captivated her and inspired her own creations. She fell in love with the simple powerful images.

The gallery also has original mono prints by artist Steve Rose. Debra or Phil would enjoy the opportunity to show them to visitors. Many of these original one-of-a-kind prints are inspired by native North American imagery or Aztec imagery.

Artist Debra Lynn Carroll and her husband, Phil McCormack want to share their favourite artists with the community. In mid-September they will be installing the “Barns of Grey County” show featuring the works of Laurie de Camillis, John Presseault and other artists in the Loft Gallery. This show will be followed by the Fall Colours exhibition in early October. Both the Gallery and Debra’s studio will be open for the Fall Studio Tour. Watch for more information on these special events.
