Theatre Collingwood is thrilled to be launching their 2013 season with a one-night-only production of "The Judy Garland Story", on Saturday, April 6th,2013 at The Historic Gayety Theatre. Written and performed by Debbie Collins, this nostalgic musical journey is a fast paced revue documenting the life of Judy Garland from age 2 1/2 to the time of her death in 1969. The songs she made famous are wonderfully performed by singer/dancer Collins, with audiences singing along and then tearing up by the time they reach the closing concert scene.
As the story unfolds, Debbie Collins morphs into the persona of Judy. Act two is told through Judy's eyes and then finally "Judy" arrives to perform a version of her most famous live concert at Carnegie Hall.
"Our 2013 season is packed with well-known shows and tributes to legendary artists, like The Judy Garland Story. We are so proud of this season and know this will attract new members to support the great work of Theatre Collingwood," says Harold Bickerstaff, Theatre Collingwood Chair.
Theatre Collingwood is very excited to report that once again their shows will be at The Historic Gayety Theatre which has recently been renovated. The theatre now has comfortable seating, renovated washrooms (including a handicap washroom), Hearing Assistance Devices and a newly refreshed concession area. The company's goal is to provide theatre-goers with an even greater entertainment experience.
