Through the support of TD Canada Trust and the Greenbelt Farmers' Market Network, the Collingwood Downtown Farmers' Market is pleased to announce that Collingwood is one of only 11 farmers’ market across the province chosen to participate in this innovative program.
The program is a joint project of the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation and Greenbelt Farmers' Market Network, with funding provided by TD Bank.
"We have always championed farmers' markets as terrific hubs for buying fresh, local food and supporting farmers in our communities," said Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation CEO Burkhard Mausberg. "The Market Bucks program encourages folks who haven't been to the market before to come and see firsthand the difference local makes." Locally, farmers' market officials hope the coupons will bring new visitors to the market and rekindle interest for those who have not attended in a while.
Each TD Market Buck is valued at $5 each and will be handed out at various downtown events including Local Live Lunch every Wednesday 12:00-1:30, online on Collingwood Downtown's various social media pages such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, as well as at the market itself every Saturday 8:30-1:00!
This past weekend Brooke Girdwood, the Collingwood Downtown Farmers' Market Manager presented Collingwood’s local TD Bank branch with a special gift basket containing items from various market vendors as a thank you for its support of the TD Market Bucks campaign. The basket included fresh Niagara peaches, local blueberries from Meester's Farm, handmade bread from Asterlane complimented with a local strawberry jam from Sutton Family Farm, gourmet raspberry marshmallows from Marsh Street Treats, a beautiful field cut floral display from Markdale's Foxen Florals, and a handcrafted thank you card from local artisan, Honour Bright.
