There’s a new art ‘galerie’ to visit when you’re in Downtown Collingwood.  Eclektika Galerie Boutique at 10 Second Street is well worth the visit and whether you’re browsing or shopping you’re certain to be delighted with the unique array of artistic talent at affordable prices.

Eclektika represents many talented artists including:

Oil, acrylic and watercolour artists John Lennard, Marlene Bulas, Keli-Ann Pye-Beshara, Deb Grise, Joan Redford-Brown, Vlasata Kelemen, Irene Kunhegyi, Jason Alexander, Ellie Lagrandeur, Susan Gunter, Andrea Zimmer and others added from time to time.  Wood artists Taylor Ledden, Andre Dorais and Peter Wakely; Jewellery from Sasafrass, Ellen Oelbaum, Kate Esplen and Sharon Stewart; Glass art from Kate Civiero, Beth Grant and Lynn Rowdon; Photgraphy by Paul Kemp and Bonnie Fox; plus many other unique and original items of fine pottery, collector canes, stone carvings and more.

Sensing that not all artists are the most effective business managers, Neil and Katie’s vision involves freeing artists from the ‘business of art’ to better allow these talented individuals to focus on creative expression. Eclektika provides invaluable representation, as well as excellent retail exposure.

Eclektika owners Neil Thain and Katie Boucher met in Collingwood in 2008 and quickly discovered that, in addition to a passion for each other, they also shared a passion for beautiful creations.

Their unique concept for Eclektika fuses the traditional Art Gallery model with the trendy Boutique archetype. The name Eclektika was conceived as a place that displays a collection of unique and unusual creations regardless of style, inspiration, media or function.

According to Katie a critical element of the concept is “to make original art accessible”. She ensures that Eclektika has items for every budget (starting at $10) and wants to encourage locals to make this their first stop when looking for a gift, or to treat themselves!

Katie Boucher was raised in Quebec in an artistic family. Her grandfather was an accomplished painter and ceramic artist as well as a calligraphist and her mother, a pastel artist. Katie inherited her talent from them. She studied Fashion Design in Montreal, and started working in sales and retail from a very young age.

Neil Thain often came to the area during childhood to visit his Aunt and late Uncle, Betty and Gar Rowsome in Craigleith. As a result of these early memories Neil relocated to Collingwood, where he is an active REALTOR® with Royal LePage and is well known to numerous clients and industry insiders as the ‘Real Estate Wiz’.
