Theatre Collingwood’s 2011 summer season sparkles with CELEBRATIONS! commemorating anniversaries, a living legend and the world premiere of a new Canadian play.  So support live theatre in our community, book your tickets and invite your friends.

Expect non-stop laughter as you set sail on a joyful, heartfelt mid-life journey in SEPARATE BEDS (July 11-16, 2011) by Maryjane Cruise.

Two couples celebrating wedding anniversaries on a Caribbean cruise navigate the dangerous waters of marriage. Ernie and Twink attempt to put the sizzle back into their marriage while Beth and Blake bask in the perfection of theirs.

Leisa Way, accompanied by the Wayward Wind band, returns with their hottest new creation, RHINESTONE COWGIRL: A TRIBUTE TO DOLLY PARTON (July 25 – 30). The rags to riches story about Dolly’s career as a singer/songwriter/actress is a sensational live concert featuring hits such as:“9-5”, “I Will Always Love You”, “Heartbreaker” and more !

The season finale is the world premiere of a new multi-character comedy, FAIR PLAY (August 18-27) written by renowned playwright, Dan Needles. Petunia Valley’s fresh new community theatre and the town’s ancient agricultural society don’t have much in common. But money woes throw the two groups into an unlikely and rickety partnership to fundraise for a new building that will house sheep and Shakespeare. Old grudges threaten to bring the project to a grinding halt.

Artistic Director, Steven Thomas comments: "Live theatre serves to enrich and entertain our community culturally with enjoyable, thought-provoking quality literature, while providing an outlet for the storytellers of tomorrow.  This summer, the company will be producing the sixth world premiere of a new Canadian play, putting Collingwood again, on the theatrical map for posterity.”
