The month of October is small business month and recently at the Collingwood library on October 8th a seminar was held and hosted by mycollingwood.ca to educate and inform business owners about using Social Media and e-mail to grow your business.
And what a great turn-out! It was a sunny day and the room was jammed packed with enthusiastic business owners. It was a great opportunity to network and it was all offered at no charge!
Many small businesses and organizations are bombarded with new ways to market their business - between Facebook, Twitter, e-mail and a plethora of other social networks to choose from, there's a lot to keep up with and manage.
Julie Card from mycollingwood.ca introduced the speakers and the importance of e-mail marketing using the platform Constant Contact for exposure. "It's all in how it translates to money in your pocket," says Julie.
To begin the seminar, Sarah Heipel from Good Energy Fitness explained how e-mail marketing has been an important tool for growing her business. "I wouldn't go without it," says Sarah. Sarah's business focusses on Holistic personal training and since moving here in 2007, she has grown her business successfully with the help of e-mail marketing, word of mouth and involvement within the community,
Following Sarah's speech, Stu Firth from Visit Blue Mountain discussed how he is able to push out his experiences through e-mail marketing since 80% of his inquiries come by e-mail. "I get right to my potential customer this way," says Stu. Stu offers any rental experience for 30 consecutive days or less.
Finally, Dan Plouffe from mycollingwood.ca wrapped up the event showing us some useful tips in creating the best campaign visually and using creative content along with your business branding to draw clients. mycollingwood.ca has 5000 fully permission e-mails!
Each attendee was given a clipboard and workbook to help "make sense of the noise." Don't forget: as a small business owner or organization you have an advantage - to be the face of the organization and the person that others associated with the organization.
This year we encourage small business owners and entrepreneurs to take the time to develop your business ideas or to find new and exciting ways to improve and grow your business.
"Be your authentic self. Be human."
