Sidelaunch Days will be returning to the Collingwood harbourfront for the third annual festival on August 12 and 13, 2017.
Sidelaunch Days is a two-day multi-venue, multi-recreational event celebrating the joy of being in, on, and around South Georgian Bay while commemorating the unique shipbuilding heritage of Collingwood. With activities for all ages, Sidelaunch Days is a great family festival.
Collingwood Optimist Club Bed Races (10:00 a.m.):
Teams race beds along the Collingwood Harbour hoping to win bragging rights. Pre-register at collingwoodoptimistclub.com and start planning your costume, or come on out to cheer on your favourites.
Stand Up Paddleboard races (12:00 p.m.): The Ontario Summer Splash SUP Race Series stops in Collingwood and will race throughout the Collingwood Harbour. Stake out a spot on the Promenade to cheer on the paddlers!
Live & Original Encore Concert (7:00 p.m.):
Two of the Collingwood Live & Original Finalists perform at twilight at the Shipyards Amphitheatre. Don't miss Courtney Dubois and the 2017 L&O winners The Rip Nancies.
Paddle for the Lighthouse (9:00 a.m.):
One of the new additions this year is a paddling event that doubles as a fundraiser for the famous Nottawasaga Lighthouse. This family-friendly event gives people the chance to paddle their canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, or whatever else can be paddled, to the lighthouse through the crystal clear waters of Southern Georgian Bay.
Kites over Collingwood (12:00 p.m.):
Bring your own kite or pick up and decorate a complimentary one on site, and enjoy the winds at Millennium Park. Or, just relax and watch the professionals with their colourful array of large scale kites soaring high above Collingwood Harbour!
Mudmen Concert (7:00 p.m.):
Finish off the Sidelaunch Festival with the excitement and energy of The Mudmen as they crank out great music from this picturesque waterfront setting. Get your groove on and your toes tapping with this fantastic outdoor evening concert. Presented by: The Town of Collingwood and Fram + Slokker
Eats, Treats and Arts Promenade
This year we have more than 20 participating vendors to tempt you with everything from fine apparel, jewelry, and dÃ©cor to fish tacos, pizza, ice cream and iced coffee to keep you energized throughout the weekend.
Throughout the weekend, try out sailing and rowing, war canoes and kayaks for free. You may just find an active new hobby!
SideRider Cable Wakeboarding New Activity!
Itâ€™s the first time wakeboarders can enjoy the beautiful, protected part of the Collingwood harbour. Bring your own wakeboard or rent gear compliments of CWB and Sandbox. Kids' Craft and Activity Centre
You only have to be a kid at heart to enjoy the kids' craft and activity centre! Enjoy complimentary face-painting and button-making and play giant classic games, complete a scavenger hunt and create character artwork with vegetable/fruit stamps.
Rails & Ramps Bike Zone: Enjoy the Bike Zone, perfect for kids to practice their riding skills and get extra tips from the folks at Hardwood Ski and Bike.
Let your dance moves create some musical tunes on this giant piano! Find it beside Town Hall, under the clock tower.
