|Savour Simcoe is not just an event; it is a way of life for more and more people. The local food movement has become truly main-stream. Sourcing food from local farms and growers is how more families are feeding themselves and how many restaurants and chefs are building their menus. It’s not just a seasonal mindset, but a year round way of life…the way it used to be.|
By “savouring” the food grown close to you, you come to appreciate and anticipate the seasons and what Mother Nature provides as the year moves along. It is discovering what is available and getting to know those who are working hard to provide it for you.
When you choose to buy local, you are supporting the local economy. When you make a choice to buy from your neighbours you are making a conscious choice to support your community. It is possible to make a difference easily three times per day and we can choose to spend our food dollars in a mindful way. The food on your table will be fresher, nutritious and you can know that you have contributed to keeping farmland in food production.
It is appropriate that Simcoe County Farm Fresh is hosting our Annual Premier Regional Culinary Event at the Simcoe County Museum. The Museum is filled with artifacts relating to our rich agricultural heritage. That’s why the theme of the event is “Celebrating our Heritage, Agriculture and Regional Cuisine”
Farmer/Chef teams create together, using the highest quality freshest ingredients produced in the county all prepared by the finest skilled chefs from around the region. Our guests will be delighted with the variety, exquisite tastes and aromas. All paired with the unique flavours of local craft beer and wines.
Come and meet and talk with the farmers and chefs, as well as the vintners and brewers, ask them questions become inspired, learn new things.
