Blue Mountain Resort introduces Ridge Runner, Ontario’s first Mountain Coaster! Following months of anticipation Ridge Runner premiered Friday, March 18th. The ride will remain open weekends only until the end of the 2011 ski and snowboard season. After the season end, Ridge Runner will close and then reopen for the May 24th long weekend.

Technically known as an alpine coaster, Ridge Runner, seats up to 2 people at a time and puts the rider in the driver’s seat, literally, controlling the speed and velocity at which the cart travels down the escarpment. The coaster will take riders through an exhilarating ride twisting and turning down Blue Mountain’s varied terrain, around two large circle construction elements and over elevated bridging features. Adding to the adventure, the ride offers open-air seating allowing all riders to experience stunning views of Georgian Bay and the surrounding Niagara Escarpment – a wilderness tour with an extreme twist!

Updates on hours of operation, photos and video files are to come and will be posted at the Blue Mountain site.

Cost per ride is $15.00 + HST, with multiple ride pass options available
priced at $24 for 2 and $40 for 4. The driver or passenger must be at least 12 years of age and 54 inches tall. Those who are younger than 12 or those do not meet the height requirement may purchase a ticket for $5 and can ride with an adult rider.
