|Dragon’s Den Meaford finalist Reg Sheffield of Collingwood, who pitched his “local, original gift and lifestyle” concept to the Dragons in 2010, has selected Collingwood for his first retail location. As a fifth generation descendent of the Escarpment area and with 10 years of local job development, Sheffield is passionate about the community, loves to explore nature and participates in local activities.|
Earlier this year, Sheffield placed first in the Documentary Film category at the first annual Wasaga Beach Film Festival “2012” with his local film
His love for the Niagara Escarpment, a world biosphere reserve, inspired his ‘local original gift and lifestyle concept’, Niagara Escarpment Outfitters. This concept has him developing partnerships with artisans, growers and craft workers in communities along the escarpment from Niagara to Manitoulin Island.
Sheffield describes his concept, in part, as “a fusion between place branding, tourism, local culture and entrepreneurship”. He feels that his concept “supports local/regional jobs, escarpment area communities/economies and local partnerships”.
“We have strong interest from Niagara Escarpment and Simcoe County area organizations that would like to distribute our Canadian made, locally/regionally inspired, cultural and historic brands, including our Sidelaunch brand”, says Sheffield.
