The Admirals Post Pub is now under new ownership. Jeff Oberfeld and Tony Fewkes have taken over the reigns and they’re really excited about becoming part of the Collingwood business community.
Oberfeld and Fewkes looked at opportunities in England, Northern Italy, Barcelona, Southern France and Florida before deciding on Collingwood as the place to hang their hats.
They were attracted by the positive economic growth of the business community as well as the opportunity for a lifestyle change.
The decision to uproot from Montreal did not come lightly because not only were they moving themselves, they brought their families with them. Jeff was particularly attracted to the community because it’s a great place to raise children and notes that his wife Lori and 2 ½ year old daughter Eden are settling in nicely.
Tony, originally hailing from England has owned pubs and restaurants both overseas and in Montreal and along with his 88 year old dad Ken he also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the food service and hospitality industry and a pretty nifty accent. Combined with Jeff’s accounting background it looks like a winning combination. To top it off, their chef, Jimmy Donohoe has also moved to Collingwood. Donohoe originally from Scotland certainly knows his way around a British pub.
When looking for business opportunities they really liked the ambiance and the local feel of a neighbourhood pub. For now they plan on implementing some small changes for the betterment of the community and the clientele – they want to keep a bit of the old and blend it with the new and so far they’ve absolutely been blown away by the friendly and warm reception they’ve received from the locals.
So the next time you’re feeling like a pint on a sunny patio, or some fine British fare drop into The Admiral’s Post Pub and introduce yourself to the new owners. They are looking forward to meeting you as well.
