Help to make a difference and at the same time enjoy the outdoors while learning about flora and fauna in the Georgian Triangle area, including rare orchids, ferns, wildlife habitats and more.
Come out to our weekly Nature Walks in Spring and Fall and meet a friendly group of hikers and knowledgeable leaders. In the Winter we snow shoe or cross country ski finishing up for “soups on” at a member’s home. We also have social get togethers and meetings with speakers at various times throughout the year.
Since 1984 the Nature League (formerly The Senior League Endowment Society of Collingwood, Inc.) has been involved in the preservation of environmentally fragile areas in the Georgian Triangle while promoting an awareness and appreciation of our natural surroundings. In the past five years alone, largely through fundraising efforts, $25,000.00 has been returned to the Community in the form of donations to like-minded organizations and student awards.
Beneficiaries have included the Blue Mountains Bruce Trail Club, Coalition on the Niagara Escarpment ( C.O.N.E.), Blue Mountain Watershed Trust Foundation (B.M.W.T.F.), Minesing Wetlands and the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (N.V.C.A.). Nature League Student Awards were recently introduced at both the Collingwood Collegiate Institute and Jean Vanier Collegiate.
Members receive a Newsletter, published three times a year, with informative environmental/nature articles as well as information about forthcoming club activities organized and sponsored by the League.
BE PART OF THIS FUN GROUP AND SHARE THE SATISFACTION OF HELPING TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT FOR OURSELVES AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.
The annual membership fee is $25.00 per person. Tax receipts are issued for membership fees and donations.
