The National Ski Academy (NSA), the Home of Ski Racing and Academic Excellence, invites skiers and friends to its 23rd annual ski day on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Devil’s Glen Country Club, south of Collingwood. Our special guests this year will be Alpine Ski Olympians, NSA coaches and athletes and the Blue Mountain Special Olympics Alpine Race Team. Everyone is welcome to participate and ticket details are below.

With the 2010 Olympics right around the corner, this year’s theme is “Celebrating the Olympics” with a number of activities to get participants in the Olympic spirit. Past Olympians will participate in our ski race, while giving the students a chance to hear first-hand how to achieve the Olympic dream. Participants will also enjoy a relaxing day of great skiing, continental breakfast, delicious lunch, silent and live auctions and Après Ski Raclette.

The NSA Ski Day generates funding to support the NSA programs and to help the Academy’s dedicated and talented students pursue their ski racing and academic dreams. This year’s goal is to raise $35,000 towards the NSA’s bursary fund and capital improvements.

The fundraising event is not only important to the NSA but also to the Blue Mountain Special Olympics Alpine Race Team. The funds raised will be used to upgrade the academy’s facilities and programs, allowing the Special Olympic athletes to strengthen their dryland training and testing. This opportunity will also give some of the NSA athletes a chance to mentor the Special Olympics athletes on the hill.

“Our annual ski day is one of our largest fundraising events and fortunately, it gains strength every year. The generous contribution of time, money and effort by participants and volunteers is greatly appreciated by all of us at the National Ski Academy. I look forward to another successful year,” said Jurg Gfeller, Executive Director at the National Ski Academy.

Sponsors are offered the opportunity to contribute to our community and kids, and gain recognition, while enjoying a great day of skiing, food and entertainment. NSA’s current sponsors include Sporting Life, Swiss International Airlines and Swissmar.
