It could be you! The Georgian Triangle Putting Champion distinction is up for grabs at the 5th Annual Daisy of Hope Putting Challenge, to be held on Friday, June 20th, 2008 at the Superstitions Putting Course at Georgian Manor Resort, Collingwood. This fun-filled day of putting accuracy is a significant fundraiser for My Friend’s House.
Since 1991, My Friend’s House has operated a safe place and 24-hour crisis line for women in the Georgian Triangle, with or without children, escaping an abusive situation.
Each month, over 150 incidents of domestic violence occur in the Georgian Triangle. Unfortunately, only 10% of them are ever reported to police. Fortunately, My Friend’s House provides “The Roof That Shelters a Region.”
As a non-profit agency, My Friend’s House must supplement decreasing government funding with donations and fundraising efforts. This year, they must raise $177,000 just to maintain essential services. Garnering such a large amount of support in a small community is no easy feat, which is why this lofty goal is only made possible because of the support of the community, at events such as the Daisy of Hope Putting Challenge.
The Daisy of Hope Putting Challenge Committee invites you to enter a foursome in this year’s challenge. Thanks to the generosity of the challenge sponsor, Georgian Manor Resort, each entrant receives a ballot to win a once in a life-time trip to the upscale tropical sanctuary and Gold-Crown status, members-only destination – luxurious Ocean Manor Resort, Dominican Republic!
As well, Boston Pizza has generously donated additional prizes for the winning team members. The day offers something for everyone - refreshments, raffle prizes and an awards ceremony. Unlike a traditional golf tournament, it takes just over an hour to play a round on the Superstitions Putting Course.
Whether you’re a serious golfer or a novice golfer, you’ll enjoy putting your way around The Superstitions Putting Course – one of the only professional 18-hole putting courses in North America. Prizes will be given to the 1st place men’s team, the 1st place women’s team, and the 1st place mixed team. In addition, the individual with the best overall score will be recognized as the 2008 Georgian Triangle Putting Champion, with a personalized trophy, prize, and an invitation to defend their title the following year.
Together we can make a difference, so come on out and support a great cause. Your participation in this event will help take My Friend’s House one step closer to a future that is free from domestic violence for all women and children.
