Carlos Del Junco & Steve Strongman 2012 blues series
Thursday August 9, 8pm  $25
A great blues show for a sultry summer night: 2012 Maple Blues Award winners Carlos Del Junco and Steve Strongman take the stage to bring the best of blues in harmonica and guitar.
To say he plays the harmonica is like saying "Jimi Hendrix plays guitar". He blows the blues harp through a prism -- suddenly it seems he's holding every color in the musical rainbow right there in his hands.
Simultaneously sophisticated and raw, his playing blurs the boundaries between blues and jazz, leaving the listener for a new and profound appreciation for the instrument, and the artist.
Charisma. Verve. Passion. Unbridled talent. Beyond Strongman’s talent as a songwriter and guitarist is his ability to engage his audience and deliver an outstanding performance at every live show. With his inimitable guitar playing and soulful vocals, Strongman delivers incredible performances with power and passion.
Steve Strongman's astounding guitar playing and expressive songwriting combined with his entertaining showmanship, have firmly established him as one of Canada’s best new Blues artists.  Presented by Meaford Hall as part of the 2012 blues series featuring Suzie Vinnick June 21, Carlos Del Junco with Steve Strongman Aug 9 & Matt Andersen Oct 14, series pass just $60.

Dubbed "ambient folk" or original Canadiana, their swirl of acoustic guitars, banjo and brushed snare mixes atmospheric textures with skillful instrumental interplay. Songwriter Tony Dekker's songs are weightless and deceptively simple, capable of turning seemingly mundane observations into harrowingly mournful tales. Soft-sung and intense, he captures our ears by describing common feelings. Dekker makes feeling trapped in your own skin, the redemptive/ destructive power of love and dodging imaginary beasties into beautiful, spiritual, multi-layered creations. Presented by Meaford Hall.
