Collingwood resident - Jessica Flynn, alongside brother Zachary Poper and Wasaga Beach resident Mike Gray are the drivers behind Funky Bunkies - a customer service centered building company, focusing on custom accessory buildings and garden suites.

Applying their expertise in design and home renovation, the Funky Bunkies team works to create turn-key small structures in the Greater Georgian Triangle area. Whether clients are looking to add functional living space, or wanting to simply enjoy their own private retreat, this compact construction group uses tiny footprints, creating personalized bunkies to suit the dynamic lifestyles of each client.

A life changing - bunky?

The answer is YES according to Jessica and the team. "Living in a four seasons community gives us the opportunity to enjoy all that our area has to offer. We embrace this spirit every day in our attempts to live life to the fullest, and believe that well designed construction gives us the tools to embrace our dreams in a truly inspired space."

Funky Bunkies offers a catalogue of pre-designed structures on their website, from which clients can begin envisioning their own uses. Possible functions include: home office (Collingwood was voted most entrepreneurial town after all!), meditation station, ski/ bike shack (complete with tuning station flat screen tv, and bar), artist studio, child's playhouse (designed to grow with your family), sleeping bunky, guest house*, in-law suite* the design and function possibilities are truly endless!

"Our designs are inspired by the audience in our area which enjoy activities year-round, have an appreciation for well designed spaces, and for living out their passions."

*Some functions dependent on zoning.

Focusing on full - service project management, superb customer service, and quality construction

Jessica and Lead Contractor Mike Gray meet clients on site to kick off the initial consultation and permit obtainment phase, before leading a team of dedicated trades people to construct each unique project. The best part?  After the initial consultation, clients don't lift a finger!

This consultation process begins with a site visit of the property and in-depth discussion of the function and esthetic each client is going for. Then Jessica and Zack work on any amendments to their existing bank of drawings, before working on the client's behalf to secure permits with their local building and planning departments.

When it comes to working on permit obtainment, Jessica explains, "Each Municipality is unique in what regulations they adhere to in regards to accessory buildings - it depends on so many factors. After project managing my own extensive restoration project, I came to see the gap that exists in client care and customer service in the construction industry. I've taken my experiences and teamed up with some of the most talented and passionate contractors in the area to deliver these lifestyle - inspired bunkies."

Once permits are granted, construction begins. Another key factor setting this team apart? Each unit comes standard with features such as fixed foundations, Maibec wood siding, steel roofing, spray foam insulation, and include full décor and furnishings.
