Collingwood's Little House Montessori is Now Offering Elementary Classes. Families interested in learning about an outstanding education for their young children are invited to attend an information session on April 30th,

The new owner of Collingwood's Little House Montessori School, Joanne Harrison, is proud to announce their expansion into Elementary. The school currently educates children from 2 and a half  to six years and will be starting an elementary program for grades one through three in September, 2013. The Montessori curriculum emphasizes hands-on experiential learning, respect for self and others, and the development of inquiry skills that enhance life-long learning. The program also offers French, music, art and sports.

Current research confirms the benefits of a Montessori education, which provides essential skills for future life and success. In a recent Wall Street Journal article entitled "The Montessori Mafia," it discusses the results of a new study conducted by professors from Brigham Young University. The study found that a disproportionate number of entrepreneurs who start new businesses or invent new products are Montessori alumni. On the Barbara Walters ABC-TV Special "The 10 Most Fascinating People" Larry Page and Sergey Brin, founders of Google.com, credited their years as Montessori students as a major factor behind their success. They said that Montessori education allowed them to learn to think for themselves and gave them freedom to pursue their own interests. Other notables such as Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and Jeff Bezos of Amazon also credit their Montessori education for much of their success.

"Our Montessori classes are providing students with the opportunity to reach their full potential in a truly unique learning environment," said Joanne Harrison, Owner and Principal of Little House Montessori. "The curriculum focuses on an individualized approach to education. There are activities that develop spoken and written language, reading, mathematics and the natural sciences. Music, art, storytelling, movement and drama are part of every Montessori program. It's truly amazing to see the creativity flourish in an atmosphere of acceptance and trust."

To learn more about Little House Montessori's program, Collingwood residents are invited to attend an information session on Tuesday, April 30th at 6:00 p.m. for the preschool and kindergarten program (Casa) and 7:00 p.m. for the elementary program. The school is located at 140 Maple Street in Collingwood. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the enriched curriculum, Montessori style of learning, meet the principal and staff and ask questions regarding acceptance and registration.
