Hot August Nights! (Posted On: Monday, August 10, 2009)

August in the Georgian Triangle boasts some pretty great sights, sounds and tastes.  The Peak to Shore Music Fest takes place from August 13th to 16th.  A four day jazz and blues infused musical extravaganza! Seven stages. Sixteen Extraordinary bands, featuring Grammy Award winner Alannah Myles and the Shuffle Demons.  Festival stages in downtown Collingwood, Bayview Park Thornbury, and the Village at Blue Mountain.

For anyone that has eaten their favourite breakfast at Rhonda’s in Nottawa, now is the time to think about the Burtch family.  Dave and Rhonda’s son Billy has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and is undergoing very costly treatments.  The Burtch Benefit is a BBQ that takes place on Saturday, August 22nd at Nottawa Memorial Community Hall.  You can drop by between noon and 6pm and for a few bucks get a burger, a drink and some chips.  For more information call Louise at 445-6032 or Pam 444.1363.

Don’t miss the Copper Kettle Festival in Creemore on August 29th.  This is one of our favourite events of the year.  It all starts with a Farmers Market at 8am and from noon on you can check out the beer garden with live music, brewery tours, kids activities, the antique car show, wagon rides and much more. Well worth the drive to Creemore and lots of fun for the whole family!  You can spend an hour or the day and be very satisfied that you made the effort to check it out!

The Dam Pub is hosting their first annual Pig and Corn Roast on August 23rd from 4pm ‘til midnight.  Tickets are only $26.50 per person and they’re going fast!  Call The Dam Pub at 519.599.2110.

Don’t throw that old BBQ away…you can get your BBQ refurbished at a fraction of the price of buying a new one.  Call The BBQ Guys. For more information about how all of this works click here

Congratulations to Grey Heron Natural Designs on their move to Collingwood.  They are located at 66 Pine Street.  You should pop in for a visit, especially if you love knitting.  Karen has a new ‘Wool Room’.  This is very exciting for me as a closet knitter.

If you couldn’t make it to the Elvis Festival, The Gathering of the Classics or Wakefest, check out our Photo Gallery and our Community Video Gallery to see what you missed!
