Spring has definitely arrived in Collingwood’s downtown business core, and as such there are many activities happening on a daily basis. April brings Easter and with it the annual Easter Egg Hunt and colouring contest brought to you by Downtown Collingwood, on Saturday April 23rd.
The day begins at the Collingwood Museum with a ‘traditional’ Chocolate Easter Egg hunt on the lawn of the Collingwood Museum;
don’t forget your basket for all the eggs you might collect. Activities will begin at 9:30 am with the ‘egg hunt’ for the various age groups beginning at 10am.
At approximately 11 am activities will continue throughout the rest of the downtown. This is a fun event for all, as the ‘eggs’ are displayed throughout the district in the businesses windows and the participants have to count all the eggs throughout the downtown. Bring your walking shoes... and, you never know when the Easter bunny might hop by!
There will be an information/activity center set up at the Town hall, where you will be able to pick-up your Easter Egg Hunt forms along with colouring activities and other fun things to do. Volunteers will be there to assist and direct you and your egg hunters on all the day’s activities.
Accuracy in ‘egg’ counting is important, so make sure you bring mom and dad so they can double check your arithmetic. Prizes will be awarded to each of the different age groups, up to age 2 years, 2 to 4 years old, 5 to 8 years old and 9 to 12 years old.
The downtown district is a buzz with activity on a regular basis. From movies and plays, to art shows, music and all kinds of classes and lectures. The spring will also bring out the buskers that will entertain you at one of the approved five locations throughout the area.
