With Christmas only 8 weeks away right now is a great time to discover winemaking at Mountain Brew & Fine Wines with Proprietor John Scheben-Edey. John will take you through the easy, fun and affordable process. Whether you plan to use your own wine entertaining this holiday season or give it away as gifts, you can personalize the bottles making the process even more fun and memorable.
Your winemaking experience begins with choosing the type and quality level of wine you want to make.
Wine varieties can vary from light, refreshing fruit flavoured wines for easy sipping on a hot day to vineyard specific products from many of the great wine regions of the world. You can create great tasting whites such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, reds such as Amarone and Merlot, or you might want to touch on a specialty product like icewine style, port or sherry.
The next step is starting your wine. You will help mix the contents into a large container and then start the fermentation process by sprinkling in some yeast. This part of the process only takes about 5-10 minutes.
John Scheben-Edey will personally take care of your wine through the intermediate processing steps including stabilizing, clarifying and filtering.
After 4, 6 or 8 weeks you will return to bottle and cork your wine. This process is usually completed in about 30-40 minutes. You can either recycle bottles from your last wine or purchase new ones.
