It’s hard to believe that 5 years have passed so quickly since Mario and Teresa Comegna arrived in Collingwood and brought a true taste of Tuscany and a passion for authentic Italian cuisine to our neighbourhood. In celebration of the restaurant’s 5th anniversary they are excited about presenting a new menu for your dining pleasure.
One of the new features on their menu is a cold appetizer platter that is back by popular demand.
Let me explain, for over 25 years Chef Mario has been serving his signature platter called Antipasto Misto Della Casa featuring bruschetta, prosciutto e melone, jumbo scampi with in house cocktail sauce, pickled mushrooms, cerignola olives, caprese di bufala, sundried tomatoes, cacciatore salami and asiago cheese. Over the past five years Chef Mario and Teresa’s loyal customers and friends from Burlington have travelled to Collingwood just to dine at Brunello’s and have asked so many times to have ‘that platter that Mario used to make in Burlington’. With the launch of the new menu it has been added as a signature appetizer platter for 2 persons or more.
The story starts a long time ago, back before Mario and Teresa were the owners of Ristorante Amici and DiMario’s Trattoria, both restaurants located in Burlington. In 1973 Mario came to Canada to visit his aunt in Wawa, Ontario, located near the north shores of Lake Superior. During his stay, he went to a high school dance with a girl that didn’t speak any Italian and Teresa acted as their interpreter. As Mario says ‘I came to Canada to visit family and returned for love 5 years later to marry Teresa’.
Brunello 27 on Fourth is truly a taste of Tuscany in the middle of Collingwood with rustic, wooden-beams overhead, high fresco walls and the enticing aroma of fresh ingredients. Chef Mario is extremely passionate about using the freshest and the finest possible ingredients in his kitchen. That coupled with their extensive wine offering translates to an exquisite dining experience. To finish off you can try Chef Mario’s signature Tiramisu and if you feel trying his recipe at home, you can click here for step by step instructions complete with pictures.
The restaurant is open for dinner - from Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5pm. Reservations are highly recommended.
