It is said that as we approach all hallows eve, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead become blurred. Restless spirits move among us …. this is the time of the “Black Harvest”. Come downtown on Saturday, October 30 to experience our fourth annual celebration of the Black Harvest and take a Haunted Walk through Collingwood’s Past!
As the downtown ignites its passion for Halloween, the streets will be a scary place…. with spiders, ghosts and witches placed carefully on the frightful tour. The shadowy streets will reveal the dark history, ghostly stories and unsolved mysteries of our downtown days gone by!
Children’s Activities and games for all the little ones in the family start at Noon and will run until 4 p.m., under the tents in front of the Federal Building (just south of Loblaws). The children’s costume contest will start at 3 p.m. in front of the Town Hall. And, of course, our downtown merchants invite all the children to come for some early trick or treating from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
There will be a free face painting centre for the little ones from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Sheffer Court (between Third and Fourth Street). From 3 to 5 p.m., this centre will help you “get your zombie face on” in preparation for the annual “Zombie Walk”! Everyone is invited to dress as a zombie and take part in the “Walk of the Undead” beginning at 6 p.m. from Sheffer Court.
Guided Tours of Collingwood’s Haunted Past will depart from the Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Hear the tales of Collingwood’s haunted past, complete with scary stories of the many ghosts that inhabit downtown. Tours are free, but please pre-register at the Information Tent.
