Habitat for Humanity South Georgian Bay, along with community leaders, supporters, volunteers, homeowner families and friends, will gather at 22 & 24 Leslie Drive in Collingwood to celebrate the completion of construction on two brand new homes at a dedication ceremony on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 4 pm.
Made possible by the generous contributions from local community partners and the countless hours donated by tireless volunteers, the Michaud family and Angel/Hallliday family will be their 10th & 11th to purchase an affordable home from Habitat for Humanity South Georgian Bay.
"A Home Dedication is more than just the completion of a Build. It's an opportunity to celebrate our community, sponsors and volunteers - it's thanks to their passion, commitment and generosity that we are able to make the dream of safe, decent, affordable home a reality for two more families," said Joy Fleury, Executive Director, Habitat South Georgian Bay.
Habitat encourages the public to attend the home's dedication ceremony, join them in welcoming their newest partner families. Following the dedication ceremony, tours of the homes will be provided and the families, volunteers and Habitat board and staff will be available for photos and interviews. Light refreshments will also be served.
Like all Habitat homeowners, these partner families contributed a minimum of 500 hours of 'sweat equity' working on the construction of the homes, working in the Habitat ReStore and participating in educational programs designed to strengthen the entire family and help to ensure their success as new homeowners. The new homeowners will continue to make affordable monthly payments on a low-cost, no interest mortgage, which in turn will go toward building more Habitat South Georgian Bay homes.
