The hills are alive again! For the second straight year Blue Mountain Village presents Mountain Music Festival on Saturday September 6th from noon to 5pm. This unique experience blends hiking on the Niagara Escarpment with popular and eclectic music including guitar, drumming, ukuleles and bag pipes. Headlining the day is Jane's Party, a Toronto foursome fresh off the release of their new album, described to have elements of Wilco and Skydiggers in their acoustic pop sound.  This concert will kick off at 3pm on the Village stage, pull up a Muskoka chair or relax on your favourite patio and enjoy.

"The Guitar Trail", says Patti Kendall, Director of Marketing & Events for Blue Mountain Village Association, "is a great fit for our Festival line up combining the incredible setting of the Niagara Escarpment and vistas of Georgian Bay with music. What could be better than a family hike with guitar serenade on the way up, drum circle at the top, musicians throughout and a concert in the plaza at the end?"

The guitar trail spans over 5 kms of hiking trails. It starts in the pedestrian Blue Mountain Village and winds up Blue Mountain where you will enjoy panoramic vistas of Georgian Bay. Along the trail over a dozen musicians will be placed and kids can have fun on the Guitar Trail scavenger hunt that will prompt them to find each musician and ask them specific clues. Once at the top hikers will be treated to a drumming circle with Meaford's Bambalamb! And for those seeking additional vistas over Georgian Bay the open air gondola is free to travel down and can fit eight per gondola.

Kendall continues, "We've added a few more surprises this year including a Uke Jam, an interactive stop along the Trail where you can learn to play the ukulele and a traditional luthier (Tony Karol) will be on hand to talk about the craft of guitar making plus we invited our local favourites, the Beinn Gorm Highlander bag pipers to kick things off with a parade through the Village at 12noon."
