Mark your calendars for November 24th when Thornbury and The Blue Mountains will be taken over by women from near and far - all taking part in the highly anticipated Glamapalooza festivities! There are events taking place all day and evening and several events taking place on Friday as well. There will be lingerie fashion shows, yoga, cooking classes, painting parties, iron welding lessons, special cocktails, a dance party and an 'open mic' night! This year there are over 30 participating businesses.
New this year, Clarksburg is getting in on the fun! Michael Pocock of Ironworks will be hosting his very popular Wine, Women & Welding classes, and the Loft Gallery will help women find their creative side with a canvas painting event. Participating businesses will be 'pinking' their store windows for the month of November to help build excitement for the event.
Glamapalooza is the brainchild of Leslie Lewis (Evolution him and her) and Casey Thomson (The Cheese Gallery) and has recently expanded the organizing committee to include Samantha Pollock (Sparrow Blue) and Nicole Paara (Royal LePage Locations North, Brokerage). This group of women is proud to support the local businesses of Thornbury & Clarksburg - at least 90% of which are owned by women. Local businesses enjoyed record-breaking sales throughout the Glamapalooza festivities and most offer something special for participants, whether it's an event, samples or discounts.
"It has been wonderful to watch this event grow year over year," says Casey Thomson, owner of the Cheese Gallery. "Glamapalooza is beloved by the attendees and the businesses alike, and we've been overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm from our sponsors and businesses. The fact that Clarksburg businesses wanted to join in this year is further proof that it's working and in fact thriving."
This year, the event is in support of The Mammogram Program at Collingwood’s General and Marine Hospital. Each participating business will have their own unique ways to raise funds for this great cause.
The daytime events do require pre-booking and dinner reservations are strongly recommended, as most restaurants were fully booked for two seating each last year.
Sponsors & Partners like The Peak FM, Escarpment Magazine, mycollingwood.ca, Royal LePage Locations North, The AK Real Estate Team, Oasis North & 13Forty help to make this event possible.
