Saturday September 24th is a fun-filled, action packed day at the 4th annual Friends for Life Walkathon in support of the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS)! Everyone is welcome with or without a four legged friend. Choose between a two or five kilometer walk or run, or a three kilometer adventure walk through the Blue Mountains. Visit the vendor village, see pet demos and much more to help homeless animals. 100% of funds raised support your local humane society and homeless pets in the Georgian Triangle community.
"We are excited to partner with the Blue Mountain Village for this really fun event. It will be heart-warming to see so many animal advocates walking together to help homeless pets," stated Sonya Reichel, executive director for GTHS. "This is our favourite time of year!"
Participant check-in opens at 10:00 a.m. on event day, with a fun warm up beginning at 10:30 a.m. From there the walk will start at 11:00 a.m. sharp. The vendor village will be open until 4:00 p.m. with tons of activities for children and pets alike. All funds raised from GTHS' Friends for Life Walkathon will help to support the hundreds of animals that need help in the Georgian Triangle area each year. In 2015, GTHS saw more than 1000 animals enter their shelter in need of help.
"As one of our two Signature Events, the Friends for Life Walkathon plays a very important role in helping to fund our shelter and the services we provide," said Sonya Reichel. "We are not funded by any level of government, so we rely on events like our Walkathon to help fund basic care, medical expenses, and life-saving surgeries for abused, abandoned or stray animals."
