For almost a year now a group of parents in the Collingwood area has been working on getting a public French school for our children. The closest French schools around here are in Barrie, Base Borden, Penetanguishene, and Owen Sound, all of them a minimum of an hour away by bus.
After meeting with the Public French School Board of Simcoe County last May, the board has acknowledged
the lack of French education in the area as well as the number of children with French rights whose rights are not met at the moment.
After a conference call with the Director of the school board, Mme. Gyslaine Hunter Perreault, she proposed that to accelerate the process every concerned family should send their request by mean of an email to the Minister of Education, Mme. Dombrowski asking for a French school for our children now. The Ministry will make a decision as to weather or not they will give us the funds during their next meeting next month in March. The emails should be sent as soon as possible while we are still actively in their thoughts.
If you agree that the children of Collingwood should have the chance to be educated in French, please send your email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now is time to take action!
