Feast of Fields (Posted On: Tuesday, August 28, 2012)

Outdoor dining in the summer air, live music, fine wine, great people, lush vegetable gardens – these are all elements of summer that we’ve come to love.  Better yet, is that they all come together in one evening at Free Spirit Gardens’ Feast of Fields on Saturday September 8th.  Free Spirit Gardens is a local charity with a mission to grow more local food and help to create a sustainable food system.

They have established 2 community gardens and 2 school gardens in the Georgian Triangle as well as hosted many free school and community workshops on growing your own food.  This fundraiser dinner is to raise awareness about the benefits of growing your own food, raise funds so that Free Spirit Gardens can continue to provide free school and community workshops, and to raise some funds to help them complete the construction of their earthship greenhouse.

In its second year, Feast of Fields will surely delight your senses featuring 5 restaurants and chefs.  Chef Sean Adler of the Flying Chestnut, Chef Shaun Edmonston of the Bruce Wine Bar, and Chef Keith Hagedorn of Beaver Valley Ski Club will be on-site, serving you their creation made of local ingredients.  Two dishes that you will enjoy will be from the Stuffed Peasant and PURE Raw Foods. Guests are led around the banks of the Beaver River in Heathcote, and even into a voyageur canoe where they are paddled up the river as they enjoy one of the 5 dishes.  A complimentary drink, live music from Romney Getty, a silent auction, and an après bon-fire will complete an unforgettable experience.

Tickets are still available!  For sale at The Environment Network, Elephant Thoughts, Sakura Naturopath, Health and Wisdom Naturopaths, PURE, Greenmarc Farms, and Free Spirit Tours. You can also email freespiritgardens@gmail.com to get on the list and email transfer your payment or deliver cash or cheque.  $70 per person with a charitable tax receipt for $30.  A limited number of tickets are available.  If you’re going to dine out, why not dine outdoors for great cause? Invite your best friends and get on the list!
