This fall is shaping up nicely for some very cool events and activities in our area. The GNE starts on Friday, September 24th and runs all weekend until Sunday evening. The grounds open daily at 9 am and close on Friday and Saturday at 10pm and on Sunday at 5pm. There is also a free bus service to and from Downtown Collingwood.

Food lovers take note! Dags & Willow Fine Cheese and Gourmet Shop have just announced Cheese Classes this fall. The classes are held at Azzurra, a great venue but class size is limited and I’ve already registered so that’s one less space available. Look forward to seeing you there!

Geocache Blue Blue Mountains is happening this weekend. Catch the fever of this internationally growing sport. The Blue Mountain Half Marathon is on September 26th. The half marathon is a not-for-profit race held beginning and ending at the Village at Blue. Half of race profits go to natural health research, the other half back into the local community to promote active lifestyles for children. Over 50% of the route is on the local trail system, with views of Georgian Bay, Collingwood, and the slopes of Blue Mountain. The annual Apple Harvest Craft Show in Meaford at the Curling Club and the Arena is scheduled for Saturday October 2nd – Sunday, October 3rd, always the weekend before Thanksgiving. Tickets are on sale now for The Gaslight Tour, a new community theatre venture. A team of local volunteers is bringing the rich and varied history of Collingwood alive with a tour that features a series of one act plays performed in Collingwood’s historic venues. The plays are all researched, written and performed by locals both young and old. The aim of The Tour is to raise money for the creation of a young peoples’ theatre company in Collingwood.
