Once again residents of the quaint village of Creemore have again united to stage a wonderful fund-raising event for local Arts and Culture. The Great Art Auction was held on Saturday June 13th at Station on the Green.
Artists and Art Collectors donated a variety of pieces which were displayed during the day in a Silent Auction and in the evening at a Gala Live Auction.
Art and other donated items ranged from $5.00 to $5,000. The proceeds will benefit The Mad and Noisy Gallery (an artist-run centre in Creemore) and The Station on the Green, the local community centre which is also replica of Creemore’s first train station.
It was a gala evening with a sold-out crowd of more than 250 people. After enjoying delicious finger food from Affairs Catering, people placed competitive bids on items like a holiday in Stow, Vermont, Time Share weeks, as well as fine art photographs, sculptures, and oil and watercolour paintings from local Creemore Artists. One popular painting was created and donated by CBC radio personality Donna Tranquata who is a watercolorist.
The evening was resounding success and raised $40,000 from art sales. The net proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to Station on the Green and Mad and Noisy Gallery to assist in their continuing art and culture programs in the community of Creemore.
