Cool Weather - Warm Hearts (Posted On: Tuesday, September 23, 2008)

Fall is my favourite time of year.  This year Environment Canada predicts beautiful fall colours….more striking than usual.  Fall colours make wonderful backdrops for family portraits and if you start thinking about this now, you have enough time to make some great Christmas presents for your family members.  Sometimes it takes a bit of planning to get everyone together on the same day…with the right weather conditions. At this time of year the sunlight for portraits is lovely at about 4pm in the afternoon.  Remember to use a fill  flash to get rid of shadows.

Make sure you check our Events and Activities calendars to stay tuned in regarding various Ski Swaps, Fall Festivals and Halloween Parties.

Congratulations to Chris Stoutenberg on his Silver Medal Win at the Paralympic Games.  The Canadian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team won silver at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics falling  to Australia 72-60 in the final.  They made the Paralympic podium for the third straight time in Beijing after winning gold in 2000 and 2004 in Sydney and Athens.  Chris, you continue to make Collingwood proud!

The Craigleith Heritage Depot is new officially open and it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the history of our area.  The exhibits have been carefully planned and there is a lot to see.

The Double Dollars Marketplace continues to be an excellent feature.  With Christmas about 12 weeks away (yikes) you can double your Christmas shopping dollars every Wednesday.  Use the gift certificates you purchase as presents or stocking stuffers, or double your shopping dollars…everyone can use that!

As a matter of fact, Double Dollars will be celebrating it's first anniversary at the beginning of October.  In the past year, along with The Peak FM, we have generated more than $290,000.00 in Double Dollars sales for more than 175 local merchants. Thanks to everyone for your ongoing support. extends a warm welcome to our new clients:
