Please join us for an extraordinary evening of culture and class in support of Breaking Down Barriers. Breaking Down Barriers is all about empowering people with disabilities to remove the physical, attitudinal and societal barriers that prevent them from having a full life. Enjoy fabulous hors d’oeurves and refreshments courtesy Aviva Foods and Sunshine on a Cloudy Day while closely watching your bid on an exclusive silent auction item. Choose from a wide selection of fine wines or scrumptious martinis at the Treble Clef Wine/Martini Bar.

Not so long ago these exceptional women from different walks of life (musicians, organizers, charity representatives and sponsors alike) were all complete strangers. As musicians from varied backgrounds these performers connected to one another through music. Music is a language that transcends all barriers – traditional, physical, emotional, and spiritual. It is the communication tool of the soul. Through sound musicians express their interpretations of notes, rhythms, melodies, harmonies, and stories. As an audience you are free to sit back, relax and enjoy your own musical journey as it will be a unique experience for each and every listener. Feel the universal power of music as it reaches out to heal and touch your soul. Feel empowered as the music and the performer’s interpretation breaks down all barriers.

Tickets are $25 each. There are only 100 seats available. Tickets can be purchased from Olga Lishansky (office is in the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce Building at 25 Second Street) and at Dusk at 198 Main Street and Sunshine on a Cloudy Day at 174 Main Street in Wasaga Beach (Visa, Amex, MasterCard, Debt) and we are accepting credit card purchases over the phone at Sunshine on a Cloudy Day 705-422-1154 or 1-800-422-1154.

About the Performers

Olga Lishansky

Olga Lishansky began her classical music training at age six. Through eight years of rigorous training at music school in the city of Novosibirsk (Russia) Olga started her journey towards becoming an accomplished pianist. At age fifteen she successfully entered the Music College in Saint-Petersburg (Russia) and for the next four years continued to focus on her in-depth musical education. For the subsequent five years she attended “Conservatory” in Kiev (Ukraine) - graduating with Excellence in “Classical Piano Performance’’.

Olga Lishansky moved to Wasaga Beach two years ago where she decided to continue her career in the financial industry as an independent advisor for SunLife Financial. She currently runs an office in downtown Collingwood and focuses her business on financial planning for business owners.

“Although I was busy with my full-time job in financial services all these years, I was always feeling connected to music. But it was never as strong as it has been the last number of months, when I felt a real physical, emotional and spiritual need to play piano. And so, I started to play every day, not because I had to, but because I felt an overwhelming desire to play. I was amazed with the power of music – no words can express what music can! It has the unique ability of taking you to a non-physical world of emotions, thoughts, ideas, images… the whole universe of your inner self. There are no barriers there - you are free, happy and complete in that world. I would like to show this beauty and power to other people, to inspire them, to bring the ‘light’ and freedom through musical interpretation. And so, as I realized that I would like to perform, amazing things start happening, one after another, which all led to bringing this concert to reality. Together with Faythe, Karen, Jennifer and Maggie we are all looking forward to this ‘unique’ event, which we see as the starting point of a series of classical music events in the area.”

Jennifer Potter

Jennifer Potter received her Bachelor's Degree in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah University in Virginia and her Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati. During those years she spent her summers studying at the Banff School of Fine Arts.

Jennifer's performing credits include Cosette in the Canadian National Tour of Les Miserables and Lucilla in Anne of Green Gables at the Charlottetown Festival. Jennifer has also performed roles at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto and the Kennedy Centre of Performing Arts in Washington D.C.

Jennifer now resides in Grey County where she continues to perform as a guest soloist, give recitals and compose and produce music through her recording company JennSound www.jennsound.com

Faythe Pal

Faythe Pal began her classical piano training at the age of seven. Through her teens she worked as a piano accompanist for children’s dance, creative movement and ballet classes. At A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in North York, ON Faythe was known for both her tenor saxophone and piano performances. She played in seven bands and at a variety of events covering a broad range of musical styles (Alternative, Jazz, Dixie Land, Rock, Adult Contemporary, etc.). Knowing that there was only one school for her, in the fall of 1992 Faythe moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend Berklee College of Music. She completed her five year dual major in Music Production and Engineering and Music Business and Management in the summer of 1995. By this time she had already been writing poetry and song lyrics for eight years and managing the careers of up-and-coming musical artists for three years. With a Marketing Management Certificate and Associate Membership status in the Canadian Institute of Marketing under her belt, in 1997 Faythe left music aside to pursue a lifelong career in Marketing. In the winter of 2001 Faythe took on another pursuit – Certified General Accountants of Ontario accreditation. Since the spring of 2003 Faythe has been running her corporation Hands of Time Inc. This currently includes the following companies: Dusk, Hoti and Sunshine on a Cloudy Day. In the fall of 2006 Faythe stepped up onto a new stage - the political arena. Faythe Pal is presenting “Concerto in the Key of Soul” as a part of her contribution as a Fundraising Committee Member for Breaking Down Barriers.

“When I met Olga on October 10th, 2006 at a Wasaga Beach Women’s Business Association meeting where my fellow candidates and I gave our first speech for Municipal Council, we spoke about our classical music training. I knew at that moment that we were going to play a duet together somewhere and sometime soon. And here we are.”
