The Curling Club of Collingwood is pleased to be hosting a Special Olympics Ontario("SOO") Curling competition for Region 6 SOO, on Nov 25th. Athletes from the SOO communities in Barrie, Muskoka(Bracebridge and area),Midland, and Collingwood are confirmed attendees. Twelve teams will be competing in two "Fun" events.

The primary event, "Serious Fun", is the TSC Stores Tankard Qualifier, a competition which will enable two teams to compete further in Picton in an Eastern Semi-final, and hopefully on to an East-West final at the "Ontario Mens TSC Stores Tankard Championship" in Sarnia (mid-Feb).
The secondary event, "Social Fun", enables other athletes to also enjoy the fraternity, sportsmanship, honorable conduct, and time-honored traditions of true Curling spirit.

This is a "Special" year for Collingwood Curling Club, celebrating it's 125th Birthday, and it is honored to have Mayor, Terry Geddes, and Mayor Elect, Chris Carrier, participate in greeting these "Special" athletes and coaches. An early morning (8:45-9:00) procession of athletes will be lead by Piper, Sheila Stewart, and Town Crier, Ken Templeman, will add his proclamations to the festivities.

Visitors are welcome to attend, support, and celebrate the success of these athletes as they "do their best" in a sport they love.

The Curling Club of Collingwood is located on Hume Street beside the YMCA in downtown Collingwood.
