Collingwood Colours – CCI Students Paint the Town returns this year with another amazing group of young artists whose framed original paintings all sell for $50. With the proceeds from the sale of the paintings going directly to the CCI visual art department. The 40 original Paintings are inspired by the landmarks of Collingwood, the custom framing is provided by Georgian Frame Gallery.
Margot Nicolson-Trott of the Georgian Frame Gallery said “I’m thrilled to be involved in such an exciting event, to be able to host these aspiring artists and provide a show case for their art. I know it will be an exciting couple of days for all involved.”
Last year was the first time the event was held, and $1700 was raised. It was a wonderful weekend that allowed the youth of community to shine in a positive light. All the proceeds from the sale of the framed paintings go to CCI’s Visual Art Department, it a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience selling their work, while contributing to the schools’ art department at the same time.
This year the Students are focusing on local landmarks, it is always interesting to see what a different generation considers a landmark and how they will interoperate it. To add another dimension to the students work, they are painting their masterpieces on 12 inch square canvases.
Every framed original painting sells for a very reasonable $50. What a great gift idea for Mom or grandma with mother’s day right around the corner.
Friday May 6 from 5 – 7 pm will be the opening reception and many of the student artists will be present to talk to all potential art purchasers. The Show and Sale continues on Saturday May 7th from 9 am – 5pm. Mark your calendar and plan on attending this worthwhile event!
