CCI Students Paint the Town Art Show and Sale - Question - What happens when you combine student artists, a custom frame gallery and the town of Collingwood?  Collingwood Colours!

Collingwood Colours is an art show and sale featuring the works of 40 CCI art students paintings inspired by their community.  With all the proceeds from the sale of the art work going to the CCI art department. Georgian Frame Gallery is supplying professional picture framing for the original works of art as well as the gallery space.

Plan to join us on Friday March 26th from 5 – 8 pm for the opening reception. Student artist from CCI will be present to meet and greet all prospective buyers.  All framed originals will be 8 X 10 and available for purchase on a first come bases.  Priced at a very reasonable $50 each, this is a wonderful opportunity to own a one of a kind original featuring our town by an aspiring local artist. The show continues through Saturday March 27th 9-5.

The following are just a sample of the artist profiles each has created for themselves for their first art show.

Artist: Leila West

As a student and having the creative ability to look at the world, I really enjoy the movement of line and colour as a way to depict the world around me. Being a creative thinker and having the opportunities to express myself with many mediums allows me to be free with my own ideas and views on certain issues and things that I enjoy.
Looking at the history of Collingwood and with the town being called “Hens and Chickens Harbour” really lets my generation understand what being a small town community truly is. I enjoy this town and all that it has to offer and as a part of the next generation I am seeing how Collingwood is beginning to blossom and make its way on the map of the “top tourist destinations.”
Many of the inspirations that artists in this town use are the beautiful and natural surroundings that we as a town are trying very hard to preserve and keep inspiring. The harbour, the beachfront, the cobble streets and even some of the new and exciting stores helps me as an individual make a connection to my home town of Collingwood, Ontario and there just seems to be no other place like it.

Artist: Patricia Moffatt-Hendry

There are many different ways that people express themselves whether it be though poems, photography or painting. My name is Patricia Moffatt-Hendry and I find the best way to express oneself is through art. Several people find art as a very non stress full activity that they enjoy doing. Art is an amazing way to express your opinion on topics, show your ability to create something original and to be creative as much as possible. When I express myself through art I believe I have the most talent when painting, drawing and sculpting. I enjoy these activities so much because it gives me a chance to relax and clear my mind and be creative. A few ways I get my inspiration when I am doing art are looking at several famous artist creations to get ideas of how I should draw, sculpt or paint my creation. Some other things that inspire me are beautiful photographs of nature or animals. I also get my inspiration from my own beliefs and the things I enjoy in life. I am connected to the  town of Collingwood because I  moved here when I was in grade 5 and have grew to love the safe and happy environment. I have also attended two schools in Collingwood and I have participated in many sport teams such as basketball and track and field. I believe that Collingwood has a great history and is a wonderful place for people to raise a family and they can enjoy many festivities such as Blue Mountain and the Harbour.
