|The Town of Collingwood and Collingwood Downtown present The Collingwood Festival for Canada on July 1st, 2009. This year’s festivities will feature entertainment and activities throughout the downtown and a showcase of local musicians.|
The fun starts on Wednesday, July 1st, with the annual Pancake Breakfast from 8am to 11am in front of the Town Hall. Join your friends and neighbours, as our Celebrity Chefs prepare breakfast. At Noon, the festivities move to the Federal Building, for the Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony during which everyone is invited to reaffirm his or her Canadian Citizenship and receive a certificate commemorating the occasion.
The ceremony will be immediately followed by the official cutting, and of course eating, of the gigantic Canadian Flag Birthday Cake! The merchants of Collingwood Downtown will be hosting sidewalk sales. There will also be entertainment and children’s activities in the downtown.
Beginning at 2pm, the fun kicks off at the Station grounds at 45 Saint Paul Street for Music in the Park. The Station grounds will be a buzz with food vendors, children’s activities and family fun. Enjoy live musical entertainment, featuring performances by local entertainers. Closing out the day’s activities will be Collingwood’s own Drew Wright playing with his new band Fall and Divide. The finale of the day is of course the Spectacular Fireworks beginning as soon as it’s dark!
