Come down to Thornbury Harbour to watch and listen to a free 10 minute World Class Aerobatic demonstration by Gordon Price, retired 747 Captain, RCAF CF-104 Nuclear Strike Pilot and past Canadian National Aerobatic Champion, perform his version of a ‘Geriatric Air Show’ at the age of 70.  The show starts at 2:00 pm on Canada Day followed by an après fly at The Dam Pub.

The airplane is very special. Gord is flying a Russian YAK-50 designed for the Russian Military as an advanced aerobatic trainer. This particular aircraft is serial number 01 and was the very first Yak-50 produced in 1972 at the factory in Smolensk, Russia. The Yak-50 the largest aircraft to fly in FAI sponsored World Aerobatic Championships with a wingspan of 9.5 metres and a weight of 900 kilograms. Speeds during the performance will range from minus 100kph to plus 400kph and G forces will range from +8 to -5.
Steve Esplen, retired 747 Captain, RCAF aircraft and helicopter pilot, will be announcing the show from the command centre at the harbour. Steve currently flies the RV3, RV4 and Starduster out of Billy Bishop airport in Owen Sound. A program of the show will be available which outlines the performance, and history of the aircraft.
After the air show head up to The Dam Pub for a complementary sampling of Collingwood Whisky sponsored by Brown Forman. Gordon and Steve will join us for an après air show meet and greet. There will be plenty of giveaways, and fighter pilot stories.
